What important issues were discussed in the meeting?
In this meeting, most emphasis was given on how to completely stop the fighting in Gaza. Saudi Arabia has clearly said that the little peace that exists now is not enough because violence is still happening. Prince Faisal said that unless people’s lives are safe, real peace cannot come. He also demanded that aid such as food and medicine should reach the people of Gaza immediately and without any conditions. Advisor to the Foreign Minister Mohammad Alayahya and Dr. Manal Radwan were also present in the meeting.
How much money will it take to rebuild Gaza?
A huge budget is said to be needed to rehabilitate Gaza after the war. According to the reports of the United Nations and the World Bank, it will cost about Rs 5.8 lakh crore ($70 billion) to fix everything there. Some rules of the board formed to handle this work have also come to light.
There will be an immediate need of $20 billion to start the work in the first three years. The chairman of this board is America’s President Donald Trump. The rule is that the country which gives around Rs 8300 crore ($1 billion) in the first year will be exempted from the limit of 3 years on the board.
What’s going to happen next?
Nikolay Mladenov has warned that if ceasefire violations continue, the technical committee formed for the administration of Gaza will not be able to start work there. Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries want the situation there to improve as soon as possible so that the lives of common people can get back on track. This meeting held in Munich is a big effort in this direction, so that the Palestinian people can get their rights and there can be permanent peace in the region.
