US President Donald Trump has once again claimed that his intervention has stopped a possible nuclear war between India and Pakistan. He said that seven fighter aircraft were killed during “fierce” enmity, a figure he had earlier described as five, and he used business pressure to stop hostility.
“I have stopped all these wars between India and Pakistan,” Trump said during a bilateral meeting with the President of the Republic of Korea.
He added, “War with India and Pakistan was the next level nuclear war. They had already killed 7 fighter jets that were furious. He said, ‘Okay, no war is going on now.’ I used it on many occasions. I used business and whatever I had. “
Trump has raised the issue of India-Pakistan dispute many times before. In July, he claimed that five fighter aircraft were killed before the hostility between the two sides ended, although he did not reveal which side aircraft was killed or which aircraft they were.
The new reference to “7 jet” by Trump came a few weeks after Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh confirmed that India had killed at least five Pakistani fighter jets as well as a large surveillance aircraft during Operation Sindoor.
While giving the main speech in the 16th edition of the Air Chief Marshal Memorial Lecture on 10 August, the Air Force Chief said, “We have confirmed at least five fighter aircraft and a large aircraft, either an Elint (Electronic Intelligence) aircraft or AEW & C (ARLIBORRONERAGENT) aircraft or ARLIGARANING and Control, which could be a 300 -kilometer away. This is actually a case of killing the largest surface to the air that we can talk about. “
Giving a detailed description of the operation, he said, “We were able to acquire at least two commands and control centers like Murid and Chaklala. At least six radars, some of which were big and some were small. Two SAGW systems that are in Lahore and Okara. We attacked three hangars. A sukkur UAV Hanger and Jacobabad were at least in Jacobbad F-6 Hanger. At least one AW & C and some F-16 have been indicated, which were subject to maintenance there. “
This was the first time a top official had stated the number of Pakistani aircraft destroyed in the struggle. The Air Force chief credited the success of Operation Sindoor to “political will”.
He said, “A major reason for success was to have political will. Political willpower was very clear and we were given clear instructions. We were not banned … If there were any obstacles, they were self -made. The forces decided what the rules of war would be. We decided how we wanted to control stress. We had complete freedom to plan and implement it.”
He said, “There was coordination between the three armies … CDS post really created a difference. He was present to bring us together. NSA also played a big role in bringing all agencies together.”
In response to the terrorist attacks in Pahalgam on 22 April, in which 26 people were killed, India started Operation Sindoor on 7 May. The Indian armed forces targeted terrorist structures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, killing more than 100 terrorists. India also attacked Pakistan’s aerial status, thwarting Pakistan’s retaliation.
Meanwhile, Trump has been continuously emphasizing that his intervention was important in preventing enmity from turning into nuclear war.
