Ukrainian President Zelenskyy reached Jordan, security and defense agreements sealed with Gulf countries

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrives in Amman, the capital of Jordan, on Sunday, March 29, 2026. He has gone there for important meetings to further strengthen defense relations with the countries of the Gulf region. The Ukrainian President visited Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar before coming to Jordan. Under this agreement, both the countries will help each other in jointly dealing with missile and drone threats and in air defence.

Saudi Arabia: Ukraine signed a 10-year defense agreement with Saudi this week.
Qatar: There has been an agreement to share expertise to prevent drone and missile attacks.
UAE: A major 10-year security agreement is also expected to be signed with UAE soon.

What is the main objective of this partnership between Ukraine and Gulf countries?

A major part of this entire partnership rests on joint production of weapons and exchange of military information. Ukraine has a lot of experience in stopping drone and missile attacks, which it is now sharing with the Gulf countries. In return, Ukraine expects to get help from the Gulf countries for air-defense missiles and energy needs. Ukraine has deployed more than 200 of its military experts in the Middle East who are providing technical advice to stop drone attacks.
