The Government of India held an important all-party meeting on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 regarding the ongoing tension in West Asia. This meeting was presided over by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and senior ministers of the country participated in it. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the government has answered all the questions of the opposition in detail. The government has assured that the safety of Indians living in Gulf countries and meeting the needs of the country is their biggest priority.
What preparations did the government make for the safety of Indians stranded abroad?
The government informed the meeting that since the beginning of the war and tension, more than 3,75,000 Indians have been brought back safely. This also includes more than 1,000 people who returned from Iran. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already made it clear that it is the responsibility of the government to protect every Indian living in the country and abroad during the crisis. In the meeting, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri told through a presentation what impact the situation in Gulf countries can have on India and the government is fully prepared to deal with it.
What information was received on oil supply and gas stock in the country?
During the meeting, the country’s energy security and oil prices were also discussed. The government has presented some important figures which show that there will be no shortage of essential commodities in the country:
India’s oil and gas supply is completely secure and there are adequate reserves in stock. Four big ships carrying crude oil and gas are coming towards India through the Strait of Hormuz. LPG production in the country has increased from 28 percent to 60 percent. To maintain normal supply of fuel and fertilizers, 7 special groups have been formed so that the general public is not burdened.
Which big leaders participated in the meeting?
Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar were present in this important meeting. From the opposition, leaders like Mukul Wasnik of Congress, Dharmendra Yadav of Samajwadi Party and Sanjay Singh of AAP presented their views. However, Trinamool Congress (TMC) did not attend this meeting. Kiren Rijiju said that the opposition leaders have expressed satisfaction over the government’s responses and have assured to support the government in this hour of crisis.
