In view of the ongoing conflict in West Asia, the Indian government has started major preparations. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will chair the first meeting of an informal group of ministers today at 4 pm on Saturday. The main objective of this meeting is to resolve the challenges arising due to the war and to review the country’s preparedness. The government is continuously working to reduce the impact of this crisis.

Which big ministers will attend this meeting?
Heads of many big ministries of the country will participate in this informal meeting. This group has been formed on Friday itself so that the situation in West Asia can be closely monitored. The list of key members attending the meeting is as follows:

Apart from these ministers, some other senior officials will also be a part of this discussion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also earlier held a virtual meeting with the Chief Ministers and Lieutenant Governors of all the states on Friday. He described this situation as a big test for India and advised everyone to remain alert.
What steps have been taken so far regarding the West Asia crisis?
The main focus of the government is that this international crisis should not affect the general public and economy of India. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that the government is taking necessary steps like ensuring the availability of LPG and reducing the tax on petrol and diesel. Along with this, the Ministry of External Affairs is also continuously working to help the Indian citizens living there.
An inter-ministerial group has been reviewing the situation daily since March 3, 2026. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri had informed about the current situation in the all-party meeting on March 25. States and Union Territories have been instructed to work unitedly. There has been talk of reduction in excise duty to keep fuel prices under control.
This tension in West Asia started on February 28 and now four weeks have passed. The government has clarified that new strategies are being made according to the changing circumstances so that there is no disruption in the supply chain.
