Bengaluru, 6 October (IANS). India’s Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities are leading hiring in September. These cities have registered a 21 percent increase on an annual basis, overtaking the metro market.

According to the monthly report by Jobs and Talent platform Foundite, the total hiring activity has been strong. The festive season has promoted employment opportunities in the consumer-faceing sector, with a higher increase than 2024. E -commerce, hospitality and gig roles have recorded the most increase.

The marketing vice president of Foundite Anupama Bhimrajka said, “Recruitment speed in September reflects a powerful combination of structural upliftment as a festive demand and long-term talent hub of Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.”

Bhimrajka further said, “Although the metro markets are constantly growing, non-forecast areas are playing a leading role.

IT, BFSI and Media and Entertainment sector promoted appointments in Tier-1 cities like Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune and Kolkata. The appointments have recorded a 14 percent increase in hiring in these cities with a strong demand for tech, finance and marketing professionals.

The report stated that on the other hand, appointments in Jaipur, Lucknow, Coimbatore, Indore, Bhubaneswar, Kochi, Surat, Nagpur and Chandigarh and Tier-3 cities increased by 21 percent on an annual basis, which was forced from e-commerce warehousing, retail expansion, customer support hub and festive tourism.

Sales and marketing has recorded the highest increase with a 5 percent increase on an annual basis, followed by a 5 percent increase with customer support and operation. Similarly, on the strength of campaign and OTT activity, a 4 percent increase was also recorded on an annual basis for creative and media rolls.

There was a 3 percent increase on the annual basis for technology and product rolls and 2 percent increase for finance and accounting.
