New Delhi, September 10 (IANS). Everyone likes the sweet and succulent taste of orange, but the part that is first thrown into the dustbin after eating is peel. The peel which people usually consider it useless and throw away, is actually a treasure of health in the eyes of Ayurveda and science. Orange peel has many such properties that help protect the body from diseases.
According to the US National Library of Medicine, orange peel is very high in vitamin C, which increases the immunity of our body. It is also very beneficial for skin. If there are stains, pimples or freckles on the face, then by applying powder of dried peels of orange, applying its facepack, the skin is enhanced and starts to glow.
Flavonoids and antioxidants found in orange peel are also very beneficial for our heart health. They reduce bad cholesterol in the body and increase good cholesterol. This keeps the heartbeat fine and reduces the risk of heart attack.
If someone has diabetes, the consumption of orange peel can also be helpful for them. The natural elements present in it help to balance blood sugar.
Orange peel is not less than a boon even for the stomach. It improves the digestive system and removes problems like gas, constipation and indigestion. If someone’s stomach swells repeatedly or feels heaviness after eating, then drinking tea of orange peel can be a good home remedy. For this, just dry the peels and boil it in water and drink some honey and drink it.
Orange peel is also effective for mental health. Some researches have found that the fragrance of oranges helps in removing depression and anxiety. Many people spread its aroma in their home or office so that the atmosphere remains relaxed.
At the same time, its powder is beneficial for teeth. Rubbing it lightly on the teeth makes the teeth white and removes breath odor.
