Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge met senior Haryana Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Y. Regarding the case of alleged suicide of Puran Kumar, he alleged that the Manuwadi system of BJP has become a curse for the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other backward classes and weaker sections of this country.
Y. Puran Kumar (52), a 2001 batch IPS officer, was found dead at his residence in Chandigarh on Tuesday. His body was found in a room on the ground floor of the officer’s residence in Sector 11. There were bullet marks on his body.
Kharge posted on ‘X’, “BJP’s Manuwadi system has become a curse for SC, ST, OBC and weaker sections of this country.” He said, “Haryana’s senior Dalit IPS officer Y. The news of Puran Kumar’s forced suicide is not only shocking, but is a horrifying proof of social injustice, inhumanity and insensitivity. My deepest condolences to the family.
The Congress President alleged that in the last 11 years, the BJP has deepened the Manuwadi mentality in this country so much that even a Dalit officer of the rank of ADGP does not get a chance for justice and hearing.
He said, “When there can be an attempt to openly attack the Honorable Chief Justice in the Supreme Court and the BJP machinery can defend him by citing casteism and religion, then we should understand that the slogan of “Sabka Saath” was a crude joke.”
Kharge said, “The Manuwadi mentality’s habit of exploitation for thousands of years cannot change so quickly. Then an unarmed Dalit like Hariom Valmiki is brutally murdered by ‘mob lynching’ and Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi ji does not even utter a word of condemnation.
He said, “This is not just a tragedy of a few individuals, but it is a mirror of the unjust system nurtured by the BJP and the Sangh, which has been repeatedly crushing the self-respect of Dalits, tribals, backward and minority classes. This is dangerous for the Constitution and democracy.
