Former Queen Sirikit, known as the Queen Mother of Thailand, died on Friday at the age of 93.
The Royal Household Bureau, which provides information related to the royal family, said that he breathed his last in a hospital in Bangkok.
The bureau said she was suffering from a blood infection since October 17 and her condition did not improve despite the efforts of the medical team. Due to deteriorating health, she had mostly stayed away from public events in recent years. Her husband, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, died in October 2016.
Sirikit was born on 12 August 1932 in Bangkok. She was the Queen of Thailand from 1950 to 2016.
Her Majesty’s health continued to deteriorate on Friday and she died at 9.21pm, aged 93. She was being treated at Chulalongkorn Hospital, but could not be saved, a palace statement said.
The statement also said that Queen Sirikit was hospitalized since 2019 and during this time she was surrounded by many diseases. In the same month, he also had a blood infection, which worsened his condition. According to the palace, King Vajiralongkorn has instructed members of the royal family to begin a year-long mourning period.

In 1956, when King Bhumibol spent two weeks at the temple to learn to become a Buddhist monk, Sirikit temporarily served as regent.
