New Delhi, November 16 (IANS). India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) has played a transformative role in making government services accessible to the masses and has helped the country establish itself as a global digital powerhouse. This information was given by a senior government official on Sunday.
Addressing an event organized by the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), Vinay Thakur, Special Director General, BISAG-N, Ministry of Electronics and IT, spoke about India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), which is considered to be the most advanced in the world.
He explained how GIS-based platforms like Aadhaar, United Payments Interface (UPI), DigiLocker, BharatNet, Co-WIN, Umang, Meghraj Cloud and BISAG-N have transformed India’s governance, public service delivery and empowered citizens.
Thakur, a national expert on digital governance and cyber security, said these achievements are a direct reflection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary Digital India movement, which aims to build a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. Thakur emphasized how the Prime Minister’s leadership has made technology a medium for social inclusion, transparency and enhancing economic momentum.
Thakur also stressed the critical need for a cyber security framework to secure the country’s growing digital ecosystem. He highlighted the growing cyber threats, the importance of the DPDP Act, AI-enabled cyber attacks, the urgent need for Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and the importance of indigenous solutions for digital sovereignty.
He explained in detail about digital transformation, cloud deployment, cyber security and the emerging area of Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC).
The session began with a warm welcome by Dnyaneshwar Kumar Singh, Director General and CEO, IICA, who emphasized the importance of future-ready digital skills and secure technologies in shaping India’s socio-economic progress.
Faculty members and students participated enthusiastically in the program. The interactive question-and-answer session gave the participants an opportunity to understand various aspects of digital governance, data security, cloud security and emerging technologies.
