The air quality in the national capital remained in ‘very poor’ category on Tuesday morning. According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the city’s air quality index has reached 344 while four centers have reported pollution levels as ‘severe’.
According to the latest data of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s average air quality index (AQI) has reached 344. This level falls in the ‘very bad’ category and can affect sensitive groups as well as healthy people.
Pollution levels were found to be ‘severe’ at four of the 37 pollution monitoring centers in the city. Among these, Bawana’sAQI 426, Wazirpur 412, Jahangirpuri 418 and Vivek Vihar 402 were recorded. Pollution levels falling in the ‘severe’ category can cause respiratory problems, eye irritation and serious effects on the lungs.
No improvement in next few days
According to the forecast, no major improvement in air quality is expected in Delhi-NCR for the next few days. Due to change in weather and wind speed, pollutants are accumulating in the atmosphere, due to which the situation can worsen.
According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature of Delhi was recorded at 9.6 degrees Celsius on Tuesday morning, which is 2.7 degrees Celsius less than normal. The maximum temperature of the day is expected to be around 26 degrees Celsius. Due to cold winds, pollution particles are accumulating below, due to which the pollution level is increasing.
