The revised result of the competitive examination conducted for appointment to the posts of assistant principals in primary schools of the state will now be declared. The revised results will be declared in all categories. The revised results of the three subjects of the graduate trained assistant headmaster (classes 6 to 8), ie science and mathematics, language and social science and inter-teaching assistant headmaster (class 1 to 5) will be declared. After the discrepancies were exposed by the Department of School Education and Literacy, the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) has decided to declare the revised result after investigation.
The Commission had earlier declared the recommendation of all three subjects in the recruitment of graduate trained assistant headmaster and sent it to the department for appointment. On the instructions of the department, the discrepancy in the results regarding double reservation during the counseling of candidates in the districts in science and mathematics and language subjects revealed. Counseling of social science subject did not begin. At the same time, the Commission has declared the result of the appointment of Inter -trained Assistant Principal, but the Commission has not yet sent its recommendation to the department.
How many candidates have been selected in which category
Category – Total post successful class six to eight non -mercury teachers category 7,602 4,213 mercury teacher category 7,399 1,562 classes one to five non -mercury teacher category 5,531 3,009 mercury teacher category 5,469 1,808
During the counseling of the candidates in the districts, the discrepancy in the results was revealed when the school education and literacy department sought guidelines regarding double reservation from the candidates. It was found that many candidates of reserved category who passed JTET (Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test) by taking advantage of reservation were selected in this category due to getting more than the cut-off of unreserved category. The same has also happened in the appointment of graduate trained assistant professor and inter trained assistant professor. But this case came to light in counseling of two subjects of graduate trained assistant professor.
Subsequently, the Director of Primary Education sent a letter to the Deputy Commissioners requesting to return all the folders of the recommended candidates sent in both subjects. These folders will be sent to the Commission with the recommendation to release the revised results on Monday.
Referring to the order of the Supreme Court
Citing the order passed by the Supreme Court, the Department of School Education and Literacy said that no candidate can be given the benefit of double reservation in any appointment. It was said that when a candidate takes advantage of reservation on the cut-off marks prescribed in JTET exam, he cannot be given the benefit even in the appointment process.
Learn about the case in detail
In Jharkhand, it is mandatory for general category candidates to score at least 60 percent marks to pass the JTET exam. This cut-off is 52 percent for reserved category candidates. In the appointment of Assistant Professor, many candidates who passed JTET examination were selected in the appointment of Assistant Professor by getting less than cut-off of reserved category, ie 60 percent and 52 to 59 percent marks. This appointment was made because he scored more than the cut-offs for the unreserved category in the competitive examination. The dispute is whether they can be given double benefit of reservation or not.
What will happen now
When the revised result is declared, only those candidates of the reserved category will be declared successful in their category who have passed with double benefits. Due to this, some candidates of the reserved category may either be out of the result or if the seat remains vacant, then other candidates of that class, who were not selected in the current result, may be selected. Also, other candidates of unreserved class may also be selected.
The case can go to court
When the revised result is declared, the candidates out of selection can knock the court door. There is no mention of not giving dual benefits of reservation in the rules or advertisements issued by the Commission. They can make it the basis.
Preparations to issue appointment letters to some candidates on 2 September
Meanwhile, the Department of School Education and Literacy is preparing to issue appointment letters to some candidates on 2 September. The revised results by the Commission can be declared in a phased manner.
In such a situation, initially some candidates of science and mathematics and language subject can get appointment letters in the appointment of graduate trained assistant professors.
