New Delhi, December 4 (IANS). Congress MP and leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi on Thursday accused the central government of not allowing him to meet foreign delegations and guests visiting India. Bluecraft Digital Foundation CEO Akhilesh Mishra has hit back at this statement.

Akhilesh Mishra, while sharing the post on X, targeted Rahul Gandhi and Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal. Mishra wrote that Rahul Gandhi “has damaged many of India’s time-tested democratic traditions because of his politics.” He enumerated five points, ranging from raising doubts on the electoral processes to the Congress leadership’s stance on the army, constitutional institutions and terror matters.

Akhilesh Mishra sarcastically wrote, “KC Venugopal ji, you cannot reject every other tradition and then demand to follow any one tradition as per your convenience. Rahul Gandhi will have to ‘earn’ the right to represent India on international forums. He did no such thing.”

Amidst this controversy, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal also reacted to the issue. He said that representatives of foreign countries meeting the Leader of the Opposition is a “time-tested tradition” of Indian democracy, which makes the international dialogue more comprehensive and meaningful. Attacking the central government, Venugopal said, “Those who only want to be heard and express their views do not respect such democratic traditions.”

According to Rahul Gandhi, in a democratic system, the Leader of the Opposition meeting foreign representatives is a long-standing tradition, but the Modi government and the Ministry of External Affairs are not following this tradition.

Rahul Gandhi said, “The leader of the opposition meets with the delegation coming from outside. This is a tradition, it has always been happening, but the Modi government tells the delegates not to meet the leader of the opposition. India is represented not only by the government but also by the opposition, yet the opposition is being kept aside.”
