In a meeting on Tuesday, all the MPs of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his landslide victory in the Bihar elections.
Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president J. P. Nadda was present in the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting held in the Parliament House complex.
Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader Sanjay Jha and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLMO) chief Upendra Kushwaha congratulated the Prime Minister by garlanding him. On Monday, a delegation of NDA leaders from Bihar had met Modi and congratulated him for the alliance’s landslide victory in the state assembly elections.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister told the NDA MPs that after the ruling alliance’s big victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, they will have to work with more enthusiasm for the welfare of the people. “With great victory comes great responsibility,” he said.
The NDA won 202 seats in the 243-member Bihar Assembly elections held last month, paving the way for JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar to become chief minister for the 10th time.
Among the alliance partners, BJP won 89 seats, JD(U) 85, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) 19, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) five and RLMO four.
