A love affair between brother-in-law and sister-in-law in a village in Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh has spread anger in the area. According to reports, a young man had a love affair with his sister-in-law. This relationship was going on for about a year, but when the family came to know about it, they expressed strong objection to it. Citing social norms and respect for the relationship, the family tried their best to separate them, but they remained adamant on their point. There was a lot of social pressure on this relationship, due to which the girl’s brother took the extreme step of suicide. This incident created chaos in the entire family.
However, brother-in-law and sister-in-law remained adamant and got married in a temple. When they returned to the village after marriage, the villagers disapproved of their marriage. The angry villagers garlanded him with shoes and paraded him around the village and humiliated him in front of everyone. Fed up with this public humiliation, the brother-in-law and sister-in-law, who were now married, tried to commit suicide by jumping into a nearby well. However, the villagers pulled them out of the well safely. A video of the incident is going viral on social media, although the Republic of India does not confirm its authenticity.
