Udaipur. Shilpgram Utsav 2025 began with a colorful display of folk culture and vibrant presentations of traditional arts. On Wednesday evening, on the fourth day of this ten-day festival organized by North Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur, the presentations on Muktakashi stage mesmerized the audience. Maharashtra’s unique folk genre, Karna Dhol (Shabd Bheda) stunned the audience when a blindfolded artiste discovered a coconut placed amidst hundreds of spectators using only sound. The entire campus echoed with thunderous applause. Along with this, Ghoomat of Goa, Jagarna of Jammu, Sambhalpuri dance of Odisha, Nagara playing of Rajasthan, Sahariya Swang and Safed Angi Ger drenched the audience in folk colors. Lai Haroba of Manipur, Hojagiri of Tripura, Ghoomar of Haryana, Dekhni of Goa and Mallakhamb of Maharashtra were also the centers of attraction. Example of Lake City’s love for art
Director of North Zone Cultural Center Furkan Khan said that the love of art of the people of Udaipur is taking the festival to new heights. An art camp of 15 famous artists including four Padma awardees is going on in Shilpgram premises, where people of all age groups are participating with enthusiasm.
Enthusiasm of youth seen in ‘Hivra Ri Hook’
The enthusiasm of the youth in the program ‘Hivra Ri Hook’ on the Banjara stage was palpable. This platform gives opportunities to those talents who could not get the platform till now. Interesting quizzes and gifts during the program made the atmosphere more lively.

A series of folk performances continued throughout the day at various stages of Shilpgram. Somewhere Gawari, somewhere Chakri, somewhere Bean-Jogi and Manganiyar singing kept the audience engaged. The impersonators’ acts and stone artefacts were also the center of attraction.
Art camp concludes today
The art camp, which started on December 21, will conclude on Thursday. In this, 15 renowned painters from across the country are showcasing their art live, including five Padma Award winners.
Today’s main attractions
Gotipua of Odisha, Pandwani singing of Chhattisgarh, Pung Dhol Chelam of Manipur, Natua dance of West Bengal and Sahariya dance of Rajasthan will be the main attractions on the Muktakashi stage on Thursday evening. Along with this, Garba, Jagarna, Nagara Vadan, Dekhni, Lai Haroba, Hojagiri and Mallakhamb will also thrill the audience.
City bus service started till Shilpgram
For convenience, during the Shilpgram festival, the Municipal Corporation has started city bus service from Surajpol to Shilpgram every half hour from 10 am to 10 pm. This service will reach Shilpgram via Chetak Circle, Saheli Ki Bari and Dewali, while the return route will be via Fatehsagar, Chetak Circle and Delhigate.
Shilpgram Utsav 2025 is not only becoming a festival of folk arts, but it is also proving to be a vibrant celebration of Indian cultural diversity.
