The number of Indian expatriates in UAE has increased rapidly to more than 43 lakh. The participation of Indians in Dubai’s economy, real estate and corporate sector has now become decisive.

Important statistics of India UAE Migration

43 lakh Indians in UAE by 2025, 35% of total population

More than 20 lakh Indians in Dubai alone

Number doubled in 10 years: 22 lakh (2014) → 43.6 lakh (2024)

Indians have 40% stake in Dubai property market

4300 Indian millionaires shift abroad in 2025

Migration from India to Dubai and the entire UAE is increasing. According to estimates, by 2025 the number of Indians living in UAE will exceed 43 lakh, which is about 35 percent of the total population of the country. Of these, about 50 percent Indians live in Dubai alone, i.e. more than 20 lakh people.

Number of Indians coming to UAE doubled in 1 decade after Modi government came to power

This figure has almost doubled in the last decade. While about 22 lakh Indians lived in UAE in the year 2014, by 2024 this number will increase to 43.6 lakh. Employment opportunities, better lifestyle and long-term visa options are the major reasons behind this growth.

Golden Visa became a big reason, people started coming for less tax

The Golden Visa scheme has also made UAE more attractive for Indians. The biggest beneficiaries of this scheme include Indians, especially high net worth individuals (HNIs) and the business class. This has also had a direct impact on the real estate sector of Dubai. Indians will account for 40% of Dubai’s property sales in 2024, generating a turnover of around 16 billion dirhams (about ₹35,500 crore).

People are not renouncing Indian citizenship but are coming for long term residency.

However, UAE’s figures for cases of citizenship renunciation are low, as most Indians prefer to stay on long-term residency visas rather than taking citizenship. Today the situation is that about 60% of the CFOs in Dubai’s corporate sector are Indians, which shows that Indian professionals have become the backbone of the economy here.

Growing credibility of Indians in UAE

The increasing number of Indians in UAE is opening up new opportunities for jobs, investment and business. At the same time, the social and economic strength of the Indian community is also continuously strengthening.
