New Delhi, January 11 (IANS). Indian Idol Season 3 winner and actor Prashant Tamang has died of stroke at the age of just 43. This tragic incident once again reminds us of the dangers of stroke. In such a situation, awareness is the only protection from stroke.
The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India has given important advice in the form of ‘FAST’ to make people aware at such a time. By recognizing the early symptoms of stroke, the life of the victim can be saved.
Stroke is also called brain attack. This happens when there is a sudden obstruction in the supply of blood and oxygen to the brain. It has two main types, ischemic stroke (due to blood clot formation) and hemorrhagic stroke (due to blood vessel bursting). Sometimes a mini stroke occurs, which resolves within a few minutes, but may be a sign of a larger stroke.
AYUSH Ministry explains ‘Fast’ easy to remember warning signs of stroke. This formula is very effective in saving lives. Understand fast like this-
F- Face :- Has the smile faded? Is the face drooping to one side?
A- Arms:- Ask to raise both hands. Is one arm drooping or weak?
S-Speech: Does your speaking seem unclear, slurred, or strange?
‘T-Time:- As soon as these symptoms appear, immediately reach the hospital without delay.
In Ayurveda, stroke is primarily considered a neurological disease associated with the imbalance of Vata dosha. Experts advise that to prevent this, it is very important to keep Vata balanced. For this, adopt a healthy lifestyle, which includes regular routine, waking up early in the morning and sleeping on time at night.
Eat a balanced diet, which includes hot, fresh, nutritious food like pulses, vegetables, soups and ghee-oil rich food, while avoiding cold, dry, fried or stale food. Eat meals on time every day and never remain hungry. Do regular light exercise or yoga and massage the body (Abhyanga) with sesame oil, which improves blood circulation and calms Vata.
Along with this, to reduce stress, make a habit of meditation, pranayam or deep breathing and completely stay away from smoking and alcohol. Keep diseases like high blood pressure and diabetes under control.
