Under NASA’s Artemis II mission, you can send your name to the moon at no cost. So far, more than 15 lakh people have registered for this program. All registered names will be saved on an SD card, which the Orion spacecraft will take with it on its journey around the moon. What is the Artemis II mission?
Artemis II is an important mission of NASA. The purpose of this mission is to take humans around the moon and test the environment there. This will be the first time since 1972 that humans will go so close to the moon. This flight will lay the foundation for future missions to return humans to the Moon and Mars.
How to send your name to the moon?
To send your name to the moon, you have to go to NASA’s “Send Your Name with Artemis” website. There you have to enter your full name and a 4 to 7 digit PIN. After completion of registration, you will get a digital boarding pass, which you can download and keep with you.
How will names be sent and how many names were registered?
All the names you register will be saved on an SD card. This SD card will be placed inside the Orion spacecraft. The Orion spacecraft will take these names to orbit around the moon and bring them back to Earth. So far, more than 15 lakh names have been registered for this mission.
Artemis II mission astronauts and launch date
The Artemis II mission will be a 10-day test flight. In this, four astronauts will revolve around the moon. The crew includes NASA’s Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch, as well as Canada’s Jeremy Hansen. The first possible launch window of this mission is 6 February 2026. There are other launch options in February, March and April. The official launch window will be open from January 31 to February 14, 2026.
