Jodhpur/Jaipur. Jodhpur Rural Unit of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), in a major action on Thursday, arrested the Village Development Officer (VDO) of Gram Panchayat Ketu Mada of Panchayat Samiti Sekhala red handed. The accused officer was demanding commission from the complainant in exchange for payment for the construction material. ACB Director General Govind Gupta said that a complaint was given to the Jodhpur rural unit of the bureau by a firm operator. The complainant’s firm has a tender for supply of material for construction works in Gram Panchayat Ketu Mada. Accused Village Development Officer Rajendra was demanding 6 percent commission in lieu of payment of outstanding bills. During verification of the complaint, it came to light that accused Rajendra had already received a bribe amount of Rs 15,000. After this, pressure was being created for the remaining amount.
The trap was laid under the supervision of ACB Jodhpur Deputy Inspector General Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav and the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police (Jodhpur Rural) Paras Soni. Today, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mahesh Shrimali and his team, while conducting a trap, arrested Rajendra red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 15,000.
The accused is currently being interrogated under the guidance of ACB Inspector General Rajesh Singh. The Bureau has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and a detailed investigation of the matter is being conducted. Search proceedings can also be implemented at the premises of the accused.
