An important news has come to light for the Indian and other expatriate community living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to astronomical calculations, the holy month of Ramadan is likely to start around February 19 in the year 2026. Although the Islamic Hijri calendar depends entirely on the sighting of the moon, with the help of modern science and astronomy, possible dates can be predicted accurately many years in advance. This information is very special for those who like to plan their holidays and prayers in advance.

The month of Ramadan is slowly moving towards winter, fasting people will get respite from the scorching heat and long days.

In the last few years, the month of Ramadan has been falling during the summer season, but now this cycle is changing. Since the Islamic calendar is about 11 days shorter than the solar Gregorian calendar, the dates of Ramadan move back each year. Ramadan starting in mid-February in 2026 means that the weather in the UAE will be extremely pleasant and cool. This will be a great relief to the fasting people, as not only will the temperature remain low, but the day length will also be shorter than in summer, making it relatively easy to observe the fast.

Also keep an eye on the possible dates of Eid-ul-Fitr, the festival of happiness can be celebrated in the middle of March.

Based on astronomical charts, if Ramadan starts on 19 February 2026, it is expected to last for 29 or 30 days. According to this calculation, the holy month will end in mid-March and the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to be celebrated around 20 or 21 March 2026. There are long Eid holidays in UAE, so this possible date can be very helpful for expatriates to visit their homeland or make travel plans.

The date will be officially announced only after the moon is visible, currently this estimate is based only on astronomical calculations.

It is important to clarify that the date of February 19 is currently a strong possibility based on astronomical calculations. According to Islamic tradition, the official announcement of the beginning of Ramadan is made by the Moon Sighting Committee. The UAE authorities will announce the final date only after observing the position of the moon after sunset on 29th of Shaban month. Until then, it is an important basis for understanding the astronomical prediction calendar and preparing for the future.
