New Delhi, February 18 (IANS). Many times people around you appear troubled by increasing pollution and sinus problems. The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India has recommended adopting an easy and ancient method ‘Jalneti’ for such problems. This action deeply clears the nasal passages and improves respiratory health. Regular practice also increases mental clarity.

This can be done easily at home. The Ministry of AYUSH recommends making it a part of daily life, especially for those living in polluted cities. With regular practice, breathing remains clean and easy.

According to the ministry, Jalneti is an important purification process (Shatkarma) of Yoga, in which the nasal passages are cleaned with lukewarm salt water. The Ministry of AYUSH calls it a natural remedy to prevent pollution, dust and allergies.

According to experts, for Jalneti, first of all sit in Kagasana posture. Keep distance between the legs. Lean forward and tilt the head slightly in the direction opposite to the active nostril (which makes breathing easier). After this, place the spout of the special container Neti pot in the active nostril. Open your mouth slightly and inhale and exhale through your mouth only. Put water in through one nostril and take it out through the other. When half the container is empty, clean your nose and repeat the process with the other nostril. Finally, do Kapalbhati Pranayam, so that the remaining drops of water come out.

Caution is also necessary during Jalneti. For this, the water should be lukewarm and appropriate amount of salt should be added i.e. half teaspoon salt per liter. Do it under the supervision of an expert for the first time.

Jalneti Kriya provides many benefits. This provides deep cleansing of the nose, removing pollution, dust and bacteria.

Provides relief from problems like sinusitis, allergy, cold, blocked nose and sneezing. Strengthens the respiratory system and is also beneficial in asthma and upper respiratory infections. This improves eyesight and provides relief from headache and migraine pain. Mental clarity, concentration and stress are reduced.
