Nagpur, February 19 (IANS). A new modern hospital will soon be built in Nagpur. Quality Care India Limited (QCIL) has received Letter of Acceptance (LOA) to build a state-of-the-art multi-specialty hospital with over 350 beds in Nagpur. This is a major step to strengthen health services in Maharashtra and Central India.

The project is based on the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model and has been undertaken with Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro). The LOA was exchanged between Maha-Metro and QCIL in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari during the ‘Advantage Vidarbha Summit’ held on February 7. Chief Executive Officer of Care Hospitals, Dr. Pawan Kumar was also present on the occasion.

The hospital will be built on Maha-Metro land near Kasturchand Park metro station, a major urban and transport hub of Nagpur. QCIL will invest approximately Rs 600 crore in this project. The land is 7202 square meters and more than 3.50 lakh square feet of development is possible in it. Foundation and parking work has already been done, so construction is expected to be completed in three years.

The hospital will have special centers of excellence in areas such as cardiology, oncology, gastroenterology, trauma care and neuroscience. With this, the patients of Vidarbha region will get high quality medical facilities nearby, which will reduce the need for them to go to big cities or outside.

The project will generate 1500 to 1800 direct employment opportunities and indirect employment will also increase. Maha-Metro will earn a total of more than Rs 1850 crore on the 60-year lease, which includes initial premium, annual fees and other charges.

QCIL Group Managing Director Varun Khanna said the project shows the importance of structured public-private partnerships that create accessible, integrated and sustainable health systems. Scalable models can be created by linking health infrastructure to urban development. For cities like Nagpur, this is critical in increasing regional health capacity and meeting the long-term needs of Tier-2, Tier-3 markets.

Dr. Pawan Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Care Hospitals, said that to enhance organized health services, such partnerships are necessary, which are strong and responsive to the needs of the community. This investment in Nagpur is a deliberate effort to develop multi-specialty capacity in tier-II cities. The hospital will contribute to the socio-economic fabric of the city with high clinical standards. He appreciated the support of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and expressed excitement over the partnership with Maha-Metro.

QCIL is backed by Blackstone and apart from Care Hospitals, it also operates Evercare Bangladesh and KIMS Health Kerala. Care Hospitals was established in 1997 and is headquartered in Hyderabad. It runs 17 facilities in seven cities across six states in India, with more than 3000 beds. It provides services in more than 33 clinical specialties. This new hospital in Nagpur will further cement QCIL’s commitment to decentralize quality healthcare access and strengthen the regional medical ecosystem.
