Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court, while giving a big verdict on February 27, has acquitted former Chief Ministers Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in the liquor policy case. In this CBI case, the court has given relief to a total of 21 people. Arvind Kejriwal became emotional after hearing the decision and had tears in his eyes. This decision is being seen as a big relief for the Aam Aadmi Party.

What did the court say in the decision?
Special Judge Jitendra Singh rejected the CBI’s arguments and refused to take cognizance of the charge sheet. He said that the allegations made had no solid basis and were based only on speculations. The court admitted that the investigating agency could not prove that any criminal conspiracy was hatched in making the excise policy. The judge also emphasized that no one can be held guilty on the basis of mere statements of witnesses without concrete evidence.

Speaking to the media outside the court premises, Arvind Kejriwal said that he is not corrupt and the court has today confirmed his honesty. He described himself and Manish Sisodia as ‘staunchly honest’. Aam Aadmi Party has called it a big victory and Manish Sisodia wrote ‘Satyamev Jayate’. At the same time, according to the information, CBI is preparing to appeal against this decision in Delhi High Court.
