Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) has taken a major step in view of regional security concerns. According to the official announcement released on March 7, 2026, the company has decided to reduce the volume of crude oil production and refining as a precautionary measure. The decision was taken when Kuwait’s oil storage tanks were filled to their full capacity due to shipping difficulties. Officials have clarified that this step is part of risk management so that work can continue safely.

Changes in working hours and attendance for employees

In view of the security situation, KPC has issued new instructions for its employees. According to a circular effective from March 2, now the attendance of non-essential staff in offices has been limited to only 30%. This means that most of the employees will now come to office only in small numbers.

Apart from this, work hours have also been changed. Now the shift timings will be from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, which has been decided according to both Ramadan and safety protocols. However, staff and managers looking after essential work will have to be present at the site every day so that there is no interruption in the work.

Rise in oil prices and impact on general public

Due to this decision and regional tension, there has been a huge rise in oil prices in the international market. The price of Kuwaiti crude has increased by $ 5.67 to reach $ 98.48 per barrel. At the same time, the price of Brent Crude has also jumped to $93.04.

It is a matter of relief for the common people that KPC CEO Sheikh Nawaf Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah has assured that there are sufficient reserves of petrol, diesel and gas for the local market. He said that the cut in exports will have no impact on domestic supply. Additionally, cyber security systems have also been kept on high alert to avoid any digital threat.
