The Indian government has come into action mode amid the ongoing huge tension and war situation in West Asia. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is going to hold an important meeting on March 18 regarding the security and repatriation of about 1 crore Indians working in Gulf and West Asia countries. In this meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, MEA officials will give a complete report on the current situation and the plan for the safe evacuation of Indians.

This meeting to be held on Wednesday, March 18 is very important. This parliamentary committee is chaired by Shashi Tharoor and includes 30 members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Mainly these things will be discussed in the meeting:
Current security situation of 90 lakh to 1 crore Indians living in Gulf and West Asia. If the situation worsens, then there is a complete plan for safe repatriation of Indians from there. Preparations to deal with the emergency arising due to the ongoing tension between Iran, Israel and America. Talks regarding the studies of Indian students and their transfer to safe places.
What are the rules and advisories for Indians living in the Gulf?
Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has clearly said that the safety of the Indian community is the first priority of the government. In view of the current situation, the Ministry of External Affairs has issued several special advisories, which every Indian should follow:
Avoid travelling: It is strictly prohibited to travel to Iran and war-affected areas without any urgent work.
Registration at Embassy: All Indians living in these countries will have to immediately register themselves at their nearest Indian Embassy or Consulate.
Use of flights: People present in Tehran have been advised to evacuate to safe places through commercial flights.
24/7 Helpline: The Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv (Israel) has started a 24-hour helpline for emergencies.
Apart from this, the government is also alert regarding the safety of Indian sailors working at sea because two Indians have lost their lives in recent attacks on merchant ships. India is also trying to reduce this tension in collaboration with BRICS countries.
