There is a situation of tension in the entire region after the missile attack on Qatar’s capital Doha on 18 March 2026. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while giving a statement on this matter, has said that this war is being fought in the interests of Israel and America. He has clearly denied targeting civilians in Gulf countries, although the Qatar government has completely rejected this claim of Iran.

Missile attack in Qatar and Iran’s clarification
On Wednesday, a missile was shot down in the air in Doha, after which Qatar’s Defense Ministry confirmed the incident. Iran’s Foreign Minister, in his clarification, said that Iran’s target is only the US military bases in the neighboring countries of the Gulf and they are not attacking civilians. Iran has alleged that America has made a special drone named ‘Lucas’, which is being used to attack Arab countries and spoil their relations with Iran.
On the other hand, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari has completely rejected this claim of Iran. The Qatar government has clarified that Iran’s attacks have caused damage to residential and civilian areas of Qatar. Qatar has strongly demanded from Iran to stop these attacks immediately and has said that there is no need for any investigation committee for this but it is necessary to stop the aggression immediately.
New rule regarding ceasefire and Strait of Hormuz
Iran has clearly refused to accept any simple ceasefire. Iran says that the war will not be considered over until there is lasting peace on all fronts including Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq and Iran and the losses are compensated. Iran acknowledged the death of its Supreme Leader, senior official Ali Larijani and commander Ghulamreza Soleimani, but claimed the country’s political system was still fully functioning.
On the Strait of Hormuz, an important sea route for international trade, Iran has made it clear that this route will remain open to the rest of the world. But no ship belonging to America and Israel will be allowed to pass through there at all. Iran is considering imposing new rules for this route after the war. Iran has kept the option of making China a mediator for talks open, but has accused former US President Donald Trump of disturbing the atmosphere of peace.
