The Defense Ministry of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has confirmed the foiling of major air attacks by Iran on 19 March 2026. UAE’s air defense system intercepted several ballistic missiles and drones in the air. The ministry said that the sounds of explosions heard in different parts of the country were part of the interception operation. After this incident, strict security arrangements have been made and a security alert has been issued on mobile phones in the affected areas.

ℹ️: Saudi Arabia New Law: Big decision by Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries, will take strict steps against attacks.

How much loss of life and property has occurred in the attack?

Due to this latest attack and the ongoing tension since February 28, 2 UAE military personnel and 6 civilians have lost their lives so far. The civilians killed include people from Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Palestine. According to officials, a total of 158 people have been injured in the attacks and are undergoing treatment. For safety reasons, residents of Dubai and Abu Dhabi were advised to stay indoors and away from windows, although the situation was later declared safe.

Key figures related to missile attacks and security operations

The UAE Air Force and Air Defense System have released data on the attacks so far. The Army has made it clear that they are fully prepared to protect the sovereignty and security of the country. Details of the attacks are given below:

A total of 7 ballistic missiles and 15 drones were destroyed on 19 March. Since February 28, a total of 334 ballistic missiles have been shot down in the air. More than 1,714 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been intercepted so far. Debris from the interception caused damage to the Habshan gas facility and the Bab field, forcing work there to be halted.

Regional tensions and international response

This attack is part of the increasing tension in the region. Qatar and Oman have strongly condemned these attacks and called them a violation of international law. French President Emmanuel Macron has called this a step to bring the situation out of control. At the same time, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry has also not ruled out the possibility of military action on this issue. UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed has spoken to the Foreign Ministers of India and Morocco to discuss regional stability and global energy security.
