What are the new rules related to supply and booking?
The government has set a fixed time limit between bookings to manage the demand properly. Now consumers in urban areas will be able to book the second cylinder only after 25 days, whereas for rural areas this limit has been kept at 45 days. According to statistics, the process of online booking has improved significantly and now about 94 percent of the bookings are being done online. The Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) system is also working better than before.
Government action on black marketing and hoarding
State governments and administrations are continuously conducting raids to ensure smooth supply. In the last few days, around 15,000 cylinders have been seized while taking action against hoarding. In this, 600 cylinders have been recovered from Delhi and 450 from Uttar Pradesh. The government has clarified that the refineries are running at full capacity and crude oil reserves are available in sufficient quantity. Use of alternative fuels like kerosene and coal has been advised for sectors like hotels and restaurants so that the pressure on domestic gas can be reduced.
