More than 1,500 families have become homeless since June 20 due to monsoon outbreak in Himachal Pradesh. This time the average rainfall in the state was recorded at 1010.9 mm, which is 46 percent more than the normal 692.1 mm.
The Himalayan state has 46 cloudburst, 98 sudden floods and 145 major landslides, while 417 people have died. Out of these, 231 people lost their lives in rain -related incidents and 181 in road accidents. Around 477 people have been injured, while 45 are still missing.
According to data from the State Emergency Operations Center, 1,502 houses were completely damaged, while 6,503 suffered partial damage. The state has suffered a loss of Rs 4582 crore so far.
The Public Works Department suffered the most loss, which suffered a loss of Rs 2803 crore, followed by a loss of Rs 1,405 crore to the Water Power Department.
Constant natural disasters have made life uncertain in the hill state, and there is an uncomfortable peace among the residents, which are struggling to restore normal conditions.
On Tuesday evening, 655 roads including three national highways were closed in the state and 924 power transformers and 243 water supply schemes were disrupted.
