Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi expressed support for the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala, saying the alliance represents the aspirations of the people and is ready for the upcoming assembly elections.

He further wrote, “Kerala for me is home and the people of Kerala are family. I am very grateful to the people for all they have taught me and for the love and affection with which they have accepted me – I will always be your companion.”
Rahul further said, “The message from Kerala is clear that people are ready for change, they want a government that listens to them, understands them and works with honesty. Together with the incoming UDF government, I will make every possible effort to build a better future for this beautiful state. Kerala will win. UDF will lead.”
This statement comes a day after the Congress party completed the process of selecting candidates for the Kerala Assembly elections. Opposition leader V.D. Satheesan said the party has finalized candidates for all the 95 seats it is contesting.
He said, “We have selected all the 95 candidates for the Kerala Assembly elections… We had announced the candidates for 55 seats the day before yesterday and have now selected the candidates for the remaining 40 seats. The selection of the candidates has been completed, now we will start campaigning.”
Meanwhile, Gandhi also attended the Congress Central Election Committee meeting for Puducherry held under the chairmanship of party president Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi. The meeting focused on organizational strategy and election planning.
As per the Election Commission schedule, Kerala will go to polls in a single phase on April 9 and the counting of votes will take place on May 4.
