There is a good news regarding the supply of LPG in India. Indian tanker ‘Nanda Devi’ carrying LPG from Qatar has safely reached Vadinar port in Gujarat. The ship entered Indian waters at around 2:30 am on 17 March 2026. Amidst the ongoing tension in the Strait of Hormuz, Iran allowed this ship to pass, which has brought great relief to the country’s gas supply. The Indian Navy helped the ship get safe passage in the Gulf of Oman.

Iran’s new rules and impact in the Strait of Hormuz
Iran is now preparing to impose new navigation rules and transit fees for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s Parliament member Alaeddin Borujardi has informed that no ship will be allowed to pass through there without permission. However, it is a matter of relief for India that Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has said that there will be no hindrance to the ships of friendly countries like India, China and Russia.
Economic experts believe that the timely arrival of these tankers will curb the rising prices due to panic in the market. Ports and Shipping Ministry officials have assured the public that there is no shortage in the gas supply chain and all Indian seafarers are safe. The gas shortage is expected to end completely in the coming days.
