New Delhi, April 17 (IANS). With an aim to strengthen strategic cooperation in the semiconductor sector, India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) in collaboration with Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) organized a high-level industry meet in Singapore on Friday.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders from India and Singapore and discussed to further deepen cooperation in the semiconductor and electronics value chain.

Emphasis was laid on the complementary strengths of both the countries in the meeting. While Singapore is a leader in semiconductor manufacturing, equipment and global supply chain, India is emerging as a strong partner due to its growing manufacturing capacity, policy support and large market.

This initiative follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between ICEA and SSIA, which aims to create a structured framework for long-term industrial cooperation.

In the meeting, there were direct talks on partnership, investment opportunities and technical cooperation between the companies of the two countries. During this period, emphasis was also laid on developing a reliable semiconductor corridor between India and Singapore.

The discussions focused on strengthening supply chains, technological co-development, joint ventures, investment flows and opportunities in areas such as fabrication, equipment, materials and precision engineering.

Industry leaders also discussed policy support, skill development and preparedness of the entire ecosystem.

ICEA Chairman Pankaj Mohindroo said that this partnership reflects the strong coordination between the two countries. He pointed out that while Singapore brings advanced manufacturing and global supply chain expertise, India offers the scale, demand and policy momentum that is critical to building a strong and diverse semiconductor ecosystem.

At the same time, Amitesh Kumar Sinha, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and IT and CEO of India Semiconductor Mission said that India’s semiconductor journey has already gained momentum.
