Bhopal, April 22 (IANS) The Madhya Pradesh Council of Ministers on Wednesday approved setting up of accommodation facilities for the relatives of patients on the campuses of selected medical colleges in the state. These facilities will be provided through charitable organizations.
These organizations will set up such ‘Relative Rest Houses’ from their own resources; The State Government will not provide any financial assistance for this purpose.
The fees charged by organizations for these services will be determined by a committee constituted by the state government.
With this proposed arrangement, the family members of the patients will get better housing facilities at affordable rates, which will improve their mental health.
This will, in turn, have a direct positive impact on the overall management of the hospital and smooth operations.
Patients coming from remote areas often seek treatment in hospitals affiliated with medical colleges.
They always come with their families.
Many of these relatives, unable to bear the financial burden of arranging accommodation outside the hospital premises, end up sleeping within the hospital premises.
This puts additional pressure on the sanitation system of the hospital, and the family members are also unable to find a comfortable place to stay.
This situation has an indirect impact on the administrative management of the hospital and the relationship between patients/relatives and the hospital staff, thereby adversely affecting the overall functioning of the hospital.
The Council of Ministers has approved allocation of Rs 5,479 crore under the Department of Public Health and Medical Education for providing advanced medical services across the state, upgrading existing medical colleges and setting up a new Government Medical College at Mandla.
As per this approval, Rs 3,628 crore has been sanctioned for a period of five years for the continued operation of the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive and Advanced Tertiary Healthcare Institutions Strengthening Scheme (CM Care 2025).
