In Nadia district of West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a strong attack on Trinamool Congress and Mamata Banerjee. Addressing a public meeting in Nadia district amid the first phase of voting, PM Modi said, “I ate *jhalmuri*, but TMC people felt the spiciness of chilli.” Prime Minister Modi stressed that ‘Lotus’ (BJP’s election symbol) is sure to bloom in Bengal on May 4. He said that Bengal will also celebrate BJP’s victory on May 4. Sweets will be distributed and *Jhalmuri* will also be given. By the way, I have heard that *Jhalmuri* has already given a big shock to some people. “As I see the situation—and speaking as someone who has been in politics for a long time—I can say that this is the first election in the last 50 years in which violence has gone down at all. Otherwise, it used to happen every week that someone’s body would be found hanging, and it would simply be passed off as suicide.”
Lowest violence in 50 years: PM Modi
PM Modi said that this is a unique election of its kind in the last 50 years, in which violence has been kept at the lowest level. Earlier, it was common to find a dead body every week, and the incident was simply dismissed as suicide. In many ways, anarchy and hooliganism reigned here. I heartily congratulate the Election Commission; He has once again restored the dignity of democracy on the soil of Bengal. I also praise the government employees of this area. Based on the information I have received so far, I can say that people’s participation in voting is breaking all previous records.
