Speaking to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Rohtas, Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused the Congress party of ignoring development issues and saving “illegal intruders” from Bangladesh instead. He said that Rahul Gandhi is taking out the “journey to save the intruders”.
Addressing the gathering, Shah said, “They (Congress) spread a false story every time. Rahul Gandhi traveled … The subject of his visit was not theft. The subject was not good education, employment, electricity, road … The topic of the journey was to save the intruders from Bangladesh. Has anyone of you lost his vote? … It was Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Intruder Save Yatra’.
Questioning the relevance of the Congress’s visit, Shah asked, “Should the intruders get the right to vote or free ration? Should the intruders get treatment up to Rs 5 lakh? … Instead of our youth, it is giving jobs to Rahul Baba and company vote bank intruders.”
He urged the BJP workers to spread awareness about the alleged threats when the Congress comes to power, saying, “It is our responsibility to go to every house and tell them that if their government is formed by mistake, then there will be only infiltrators in every district of Bihar.”
This comment has come at a time when both BJP and Congress have intensified their campaigns in Bihar before the upcoming assembly elections in October or November. In the first day, Rahul Gandhi criticized the Election Commission of India for allegedly “not cooperating” in the investigation of voter fraud in Karnataka Crime Investigation Department (Karnataka CID) in Aland Assembly constituency of Kalburgi district.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha has claimed that the investigation of alleged fraud has been stopped for more than two years, as the Election Commission is not responding to the letters sent by the CID. He called it a “evidence” that Chief Election Commissioner Dnyanesh Kumar is giving protection to “vote thieves”.
Rahul Gandhi said during a press conference at Congress headquarters Indira Bhavan, “Investigation was started in February 2023, in March 2023, Karnataka CID wrote a letter to ECI and asked for all the details. In August, incomplete details were given, so that no investigation could be done. Whatever was not necessary, what was necessary, whatever was necessary, was not given by the Election Commission (by the Election Commission).”
He further demanded that the ECI release the figures sought within a week, as the Karnataka Election Commission had also sought the figures, but no response was given. The Vipakshi parties have been repeatedly claiming that the Election Commission of India is removing and connecting fake votes from the voter list in various elections in connivance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
