In March, the price of domestic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) was increased by ₹60 per cylinder. After the recent change, the price of a 14.2 kg non-subsidised LPG cylinder – used by most households (except Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries) – has now reached ₹913 in Delhi, according to Indian Oil Corporation data. There is no shortage of LPG
The government has recently clarified that there is no shortage of domestic LPG (cooking gas) in the country at present. However, ongoing tensions in the Middle East have placed some pressure on the supply chain; To control this, several measures have been implemented to prevent hoarding – such as increasing the required gap between LPG refill bookings from 21 days to 25 days. The rule of “one house, one connection” has also been implemented. It is now illegal to have both an LPG cylinder connection and a PNG (piped gas) connection at the same address. If you already have a PNG connection in your home, you will have to return your LPG cylinder.
