International Nurses Day: Delhi Chief Minister interacts with caregivers

New Delhi, May 12 (IANS). Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta made a surprise inspection of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital. The incident occurred on Tuesday, the eve of ‘International Nurses Day’, an official said.

The Chief Minister visited different wards of the hospital, met the nursing staff and praised their spirit of selfless service.

According to an official statement, he spent time having informal and heartfelt conversations with nurses, listening to their experiences and understanding the challenges of their profession.

As a mark of appreciation, the Chief Minister gave flowers to the nursing staff; Many of them became emotional due to this.

Many nurses also took selfies with the Chief Minister and described this meeting as one of the most memorable moments of their career.

Addressing the staff, CM Rekha Gupta said, “Nursing is not just a profession, but it is a symbol of compassion, humanity and service.”

“Doctors provide treatment, but nurses are the ones who provide patients with the emotional support and care that often helps them recover,” she said. He further said that the patience and dedication of nurses in difficult circumstances is truly inspiring.

The Chief Minister also interacted with nursing staff from different states like Kerala, Rajasthan and Punjab.

He said that healthcare workers from all over the country have played an important role in strengthening Delhi’s healthcare system and bringing it up to the best standards in the world.

On the occasion of ‘International Nurses Day’ on Tuesday, Delhi Health Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh greeted the nursing community. He appreciated the important role of nurses in strengthening the healthcare system and serving humanity with full dedication and compassion.

Addressing a special program organized at Lok Nayak Hospital (LNJP Hospital) located at MAMC Auditorium, the Health Minister said that nursing is not just a profession, but it is a symbol of care, sensitivity and selfless service.

He said that when a child is born, the first person after the mother to take care of that newborn is a nurse. Emphasizing this, he said that it is very important to empower the nursing community and support them.

Highlighting the important role of nurses in patient care, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh said that along with doctors, they form the backbone of the healthcare system. From providing emotional support to ensuring continuity of care and treatment, nurses make a vital contribution to patients’ confidence and recovery, he said.

Further, the Health Minister congratulated LNJP Hospital for securing the first position in the prestigious ‘Kayakalp Awards’ for its standards of cleanliness and hygiene. He described this as the result of dedication and collective efforts of healthcare professionals including nursing staff.
