New Delhi, May 27 (). Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists is going to begin from June 30 in the national capital. Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Ashok Kumar said on Wednesday that political parties are involved in every stage of the process. Transparency is maintained with everyone.
Speaking to , the CEO said, “There are two Booth Level Agents (BLA) at the level of Booth Level Officer (BLO) and one Booth Level Agent at the level of Assistant Returning Officer. At our level also we hold meetings with political parties.”
Booth level agents are those representatives who are appointed by recognized political parties during the conduct of the election process.
Ashok Kumar further said, “After the draft is published by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), the information will be given to the political parties when they issue the notice. Along with this, they will also be informed about the disposal of the notice. Therefore, we will ensure transparency in every way with the political parties.”
Welcoming the Supreme Court verdict on SIR, the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi said, “It is true that the entire process of SIR is conducted within the legal framework. The Election Commission has framed its guidelines with complete transparency. The involvement of political parties is clearly mentioned in the Election Commission guidelines.”
Ashok Kumar also explained in detail about the SIR to be conducted in the capital.
He said, “The actual process of SIR in Delhi will start from June 30, where BLOs will go door-to-door and give enumeration forms to the voters, which the voters will fill and submit to the BLOs.”
The CEO said that if the voter is not at home at the time of the visit, the BLOs will visit a maximum of three times and if the voter is still not available, they will leave the form at the voter’s residence. Another option voters have is that they can download the form as well as submit it online.
Ashok Kumar told that when the voters themselves submit the form, the BLO can sign it. If any voter has any confusion regarding filling the form, the name and number of the BLO will be given at the top of the form and they can immediately contact and get clarification.
He said, “We have also made videos in which it has been explained to people how to get information about parents or grandparents of voters who have come from other states and how to establish contact with them, how to get information about voters who have migrated within Delhi. This also includes those women who have come and settled in Delhi after marriage.”
