Madhya Pradesh News: The CBI team on Thursday took former judge Giribala Singh for medical examination to the Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) campus in Bhopal, soon after arresting him in the alleged dowry murder case of his daughter-in-law Twisha Sharma. According to sources, a special medical camp was organized at MANIT campus. Necessary permission for this process had already been obtained from Madhya Pradesh Police. An ambulance was also present on the campus during the medical examination.
Arrest after seven hours of interrogation
Giribala Singh was arrested a day after his anticipatory bail was canceled by the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Before his arrest, the CBI team interrogated him for about seven hours at his residence in Katara Hills, Bhopal. The CBI team, accompanied by heavy police force, reached his house around 10:30 in the morning. After questioning, he was detained and taken for medical examination.
Information and documentation process given to the court
Meanwhile, CBI officials visited the residence of Bhopal Principal District Judge Manoj Kumar Srivastava and formally informed about the arrest. During this, officers were also seen presenting the relevant arrest documents. According to sources, CBI will present Giribala Singh in the court on Friday.
Action increased after High Court order
This entire matter came to light after the Madhya Pradesh High Court canceled the interim bail granted by the district court on May 15. The court, in its 17-page order, said that WhatsApp chats and statements of Twisha’s family indicate that the allegations are not limited to the husband alone. The Court also noted that the victim was pressured to abort the pregnancy, which further adds to the seriousness of the case.
Background of the case
Twisha Sharma was found dead in her in-laws’ house on May 12. She was married to Samarth Singh on 9 December 2024. After the incident, a case was registered under charges of dowry harassment and abetment of suicide. Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh was arrested from Jabalpur on May 22. Later he was also sent to CBI custody.
