Kolkata, May 31 (IANS). West Bengal BJP state spokesperson Debjit Sarkar has shared a video on social media. They claim that in this video, Trinamool Congress chief and former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is seen and heard threatening the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a private hospital located in Minto Park, Kolkata, for admitting her nephew Abhishek Banerjee to the hospital.
Debjit Sarkar also cited the medical certificate issued by the hospital in his social media post. He alleged that despite no serious injury being found in the medical report, Mamata Banerjee was pressurizing the hospital management to admit Abhishek Banerjee.
He said in his post, “This is a worrying attempt to misuse medical institutions for political purposes. The job of hospitals is to treat patients based on their medical need, not as per political convenience. Any attempt to intimidate doctors, administrators or health institutions undermines public trust and violates the basic principles of democracy and good governance.”
In fact, on Saturday afternoon, Trinamool Congress General Secretary and Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee had gone to Sonarpur in South 24 Parganas district to meet the family of a party worker. It was told that the worker was a victim of post-election violence.
During this time, a group of local people protested against Abhishek Banerjee, which included many women. It is alleged that he was also pushed and treated rudely.
After this, the security forces evacuated him safely and he was first taken to a private hospital located near Eastern Metropolitan Bypass. However, Mamata Banerjee also reached there and alleged that the hospital was not giving proper treatment to her nephew.
After this, Abhishek Banerjee was taken to another private hospital located in Minto Park, Kolkata, where he was kept in ITU for examination.
After a detailed examination, doctors at the hospital said there was no need to admit him and issued a medical certificate of “no need for admission”.
According to the certificate accessed by IANS, Abhishek Banerjee did not suffer any serious internal injuries and was completely conscious. Therefore no need was felt to recruit them. Doctors advised to take some medicines.
When Mamata Banerjee got this information, she expressed her displeasure. While leaving the hospital, he alleged that both Eastern Metropolitan Bypass and Minto Park hospitals refused to admit Abhishek Banerjee and provide proper treatment due to administrative pressure.
“In the case of the second hospital, there was pressure from a deputy commissioner of Kolkata Police that Abhishek should not be admitted. First they won the election through fraud and hooliganism, then they got Abhishek attacked and now the pressure is on to ensure that he does not get proper treatment,” he told reporters.
Mamata Banerjee also claimed that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi called her and assured all possible cooperation for the treatment of Abhishek Banerjee in any hospital outside West Bengal.
After this Mamata Banerjee left the hospital with her nephew. By the time the news was written, Abhishek Banerjee had reached his residence on Kalighat Road in South Kolkata, which is near Mamata Banerjee’s residence.
