North 24 Parganas, June 14 (IANS). Former CPI(M) MLA in West Bengal Tanmay Bhattacharya gave a sharp statement regarding Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the politics of the state. He said that when a political party becomes centered around one person, it ultimately results in a weak organizational structure.
Former CPI(M) MLA Tanmay Bhattacharya, speaking to news agency IANS, claimed that he had already hinted that several party leaders, including Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar’s aide, except Abhishek Banerjee, may go in a different direction politically in the future, and even hinted at the possibility of leaning towards the NDA. Comparing TMC to a ‘private limited company’, he said that such parties start disintegrating as soon as they are out of power.
Regarding the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid on premises linked to TMC leader Madan Mitra, he raised questions on the working style of the agency. Bhattacharya said that the same agencies had earlier also failed to file concrete chargesheets in many cases and could not present sufficient evidence in the court. He alleged that questions have been continuously raised on the role of investigating agencies in political matters.
Let us tell you that the team of Central Investigation Agency Enforcement Directorate had raided several places of Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra in Kolkata early on Saturday morning. The investigation so far has revealed that Madan Mitra had taken bribes in the form of cash and gold through middlemen in exchange for the appointment of ineligible candidates to various posts in several municipalities, including Kamarhati Municipality. Madan Mitra is involved in more than 125 such illegal appointments, further investigation is underway.
Further, reacting to a viral photo in which he was seen with BJP leaders, Bhattacharya clarified that he was not part of any political forum but had attended a football club event. He said he was present at the same event along with BJP spokesperson Debjit Sarkar and senior leader Dilip Ghosh, where photographs were taken during informal talks and tea. He also said that his personal relations are cordial with people from different parties and it is not appropriate to give it a political colour.
