Srinagar, June 21 (IANS). Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Sakina Itu on Sunday targeted the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), saying that the opposition should first demand an investigation into the recruitments done in the last 10 years.

Sakina Itu rejected the allegations related to recruitments and outsourcing and said that if PDP is demanding an investigation into the recent recruitments then it should first demand an investigation into all the recruitments done during the last decade.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of International Yoga Day celebrations at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Center (SKICC) in Srinagar, the minister said the present government has nothing to hide and is fully prepared to face any investigation.

Answering questions from journalists, Itu said, “If PDP wants to investigate the recruitments, it should first investigate all the recruitments done in the last 10 years.”

Rejecting the allegations leveled on the government, the minister clarified that the outsourcing system was not started by the present administration.

He said that this practice has been going on for a long time and the present government cannot be held responsible for the policies started before its tenure.

“The government has nothing to hide and is ready for any kind of investigation,” he said. He said that transparency and accountability remain the top priorities of the administration.

The minister’s comments come amid the ongoing political debate over recruitment processes and outsourcing policies in various government departments.

He reiterated that the government is committed to ensuring fairness and transparency in all administrative matters.

The PDP has been criticizing the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference (NC) government for allegedly failing to provide employment opportunities to eligible unemployed youth in Jammu and Kashmir.

The PDP has also criticized the NC government for involving external agencies to prepare question papers for written examinations and alleged that these are often leaked, thereby reducing the credibility of the recruitment process.
