Patna, July 2 (IANS). Former Chief Minister Rabri Devi has vacated the government bungalow after almost 20 years, following which one of the most prestigious addresses of Bihar politics, 10 Circular Road, Patna, entered a new chapter.

Rabri shifted to her family residence in Kautilya Nagar along with RJD chief and former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, marking the end of an era in the political journey of the Rashtriya Janata Dal.

Rabri Devi was living in this government bungalow since February 2, 2006. This residence was allotted to her during her tenure as the leader of the opposition, first in the Bihar Assembly and later in the Legislative Council.

Over the years, this bungalow remained the political center of the Lalu family, where many meetings of the Grand Alliance were held and many important political strategies and decisions were shaped.

As a result, 10 Circular Road became synonymous with RJD politics in Bihar.

Before handing over the possession of the bungalow, Rabri Devi had expressed concern about the official list of government properties.

He had written a letter to the Building Construction Department asking for the original charge register and list prepared at the time of allotment of houses in 2006.

According to sources, the department has not yet provided the original documents.

Rabri Devi said that the list should be verified before formally handing over the house so that any dispute or allegations related to government property can be avoided in future.

Despite the case being pending, he vacated the bungalow on Thursday.

Rabri Devi, being the current leader of opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council, has been allotted a government residence at 39 Hardinge Road.

However, the Lalu family has currently shifted to their private residence in Kautilya Nagar.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav has already moved to his official residence at 1 Polo Road.

As a result, the family’s political and personal activities will now be conducted from separate locations.

The Bihar government had earlier directed Rabri Devi to vacate the bungalow within a month.

After this, an extension of 15 days was given and then a final notice of seven days was issued.

During this time, the family gradually moved their belongings, and household items have been being taken out of the residence by trucks for the past several days.

The government has now allotted the bungalow at 10 Circular Road to State Animal and Fisheries Resources Minister Nand Kishore Ram.
