US President Donald Trump, while addressing the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, announced that he had achieved what many people considered impossible within seven months of his presidential tenure. He said that he has abolished seven “endless” wars and reiterated his claim of helping India and Pakistan in the beginning of this year.
Trump told the world leaders, “In just seven months, I have ended seven such wars that could not end. Everyone said that these war could not end, some had been going on for 31 years, a 36 years. I ended seven wars, and all the wars were going on fiercely and innte people were being killed in them.”
The US President gave a list of struggles that he said that he had been abolished during his tenure. He cited Cambodia and Thailand, Serbia, Congo and Rwanda, Pakistan and India, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, and Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Trump has repeatedly linked his claims to his comments in Washington early this week at the United Nations General Assembly. On 21 September, speaking at the Dinner, the founder of the American Cornerstone Institute, he again stressed that he played a role in “stopping wars” including wars between India and Pakistan, and even suggested that he should be honored with the Nobel Prize for “Elimination of Seven Wars”.
“We are making peace agreements and stopping war. So we stopped the war between India and Pakistan, Thailand and Cambodia,” Trump said in the program.
Expanding his claim, he said, “Think about India and Pakistan. Think about it. And you know how I stopped it through business. They want to do business. And I respect both leaders a lot. But when you look at all the wars we have stopped.”
At the same program, Trump listed the struggles that he said that he was stopped under his leadership, including “Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kosovo and Serbia, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ithiopia, Rwanda and Congo”.
He said, “Look at it. India, Pakistan, Thailand, Cambodia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kosovo and Serbia, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ithiopia, Rwanda and Congo. We stopped all of them. And 60 percent of these were stopped due to trade.”
He further claimed that his pressure proved to be decisive. He said, “Like India, I said, ‘Look, if you are going to fight and they have nuclear weapons, then we will not do any business.’ They stopped. “
Talking about war in Ukraine, Trump connected this struggle to his widespread claim of being a peacekeeper. He told the attendees, “I said, good, what about the other seven? I should get the Nobel Prize for each one. Then he said, but if you stop Russia and Ukraine, you should get Nobel. I said that I have stopped seven wars. This is a war, and it is a very big war.”
Trump said that initially he felt that his relationship with Moscow would be easy to resolve the dispute. He said, “Because I have good relations with President Putin, I am disappointed with him, but yes. I thought that would be the easiest, but we will solve it somehow somehow.”
He suggested that energy prices are directly related to the end of the war. “This will stop the war automatically with Russia and Ukraine,” Trump said, “If the prices decrease a little further, it will stop. I am very disappointed with President Putin. 5000-7000 people are dying every week.”
Reiterating Moscow’s criticism, Trump said the Russian President has not met expectations. At a press conference with British Prime Minister Kir Starmer, Trump said, “He has disappointed me. I mean, he is killing many people and losing more people than what he is killing. Truth, to be honest, Russian soldiers are being killed at a higher rate than Ukrainian soldiers.”
The President acknowledged the boundaries of his influence, saying, “Although I thought it would be ‘the easiest’ to resolve the Russia-Ukraine war, but it was not so.”
However, he insisted that if he had been in office, the war would not have started. He said, “If I had been a President, it would never have happened. If I had been a President, it would never have happened. And it did not happen for four years. Most people believe that it had neither happened nor close to being.”
Trump also recalled his previous diplomatic efforts, referring to his summit with Putin in Alaska, where he urged the Russian leader to interact directly with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelansky. He said that despite these efforts, “peace agreement could not be reached.”
The struggle has been going on since then. According to President Vladimir Putin, in February 2022, Russia attacked Ukraine in a big way, which was aimed at “freedom from militarization and nazism”.
The Russia-Ukraine conflict, which began with Moscow capturing Crimea in 2014, turned into a full war in 2022. Donitsk and Luhansk regions continue to fight with Russian growth as well as Ukrainian retaliation. In August 2024, Ukraine infiltrated the Russael Kursk Oblast and caught regional prisoners.
