Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly of Pakistan, Omar Ayub has complained to the Speaker that his views are not going out.
Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari had called a session of the National Assembly from Monday to debate India’s response to the Pahalgam attack and the situation arising after the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty. The debate took place for two days on Monday and Tuesday but the inner story was not able to come out. Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has stopped live telecast of the proceedings on YouTube and Facebook. Government channel PTV is only showing selected speeches of ruling party leaders. What the opposition is saying is not coming out.
A report published in Pakistani newspaper Dawn states that an official of the Assembly has said that in view of the tension between India and Pakistan, the live telecast has been stopped due to the sensitivity of the environment, which will be restored after a few days. On Tuesday, Omar Ayub, at the very beginning of the House, raised the issue of non-telecast of his Monday speech and the Assembly officials not providing the video even after asking for it.
Speaker Sadiq told the Assembly that Ayub’s speech was played on CCTV in the Assembly Secretariat. Sadiq said that he has the right to remove any objectionable thing from the proceedings. On this, Ayub has written a letter to Sadiq that nothing of his speech has been removed from the proceedings, yet the Assembly Secretariat is not giving him the video of his own speech.
