New Delhi. Renowned South Korean carmaker Kia Motors has expanded its electric vehicle portfolio with the introduction of a new model. The company has unveiled a new electric car named Kia Ray EV in the global market. Positioned as an entry-level electric car, the Kia Ray EV is designed to be highly affordable. The official bookings for this new electric car have already started. According to the company, the Kia Ray electric car has been specially designed keeping in mind the urban driving. Its looks and design are quite similar to its petrol-powered counterpart.
The vehicle caters to individuals seeking a budget-friendly option for an entry-level mini electric car. The company has revealed that the price of this mini electric car has been fixed at 27,750,000 South Korean Won (approximately $17.27 lakh INR). The Kia Ray EV is offered in a total of six colours, including a new Smoke Blue color option. The interior has a light gray and black color option. The cabin gets a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, column-style design with electronic shift lever and comfortable flat-folding seats that contribute to increased cabin space.
Under the hood, the Kia Ray EV is equipped with a 32.2 kWh LFP (Lithium Ferrophosphate) battery pack. It is powered by an electric motor with a power output of 64.3 kW (86 hp) and torque generation of 147 Nm. The company claims that the car offers a driving range of up to 205 km on a single charge and a range of 233 km in urban conditions. The 150 kW fast charger can charge the vehicle from 10% to 80% in just 40 minutes. Additionally, an optional 7 kW portable charger is provided, which charges the battery at a slower rate and takes about 6 hours to fully charge. In short, Kia Motors has introduced the Kia Ray EV as an affordable urban electric vehicle option. With similarities to the petrol model, reasonable pricing and commendable driving range, the vehicle is set to attract those looking for a cost-effective entry into the world of electric cars.
