New Delhi. After the success of Nexon compact SUV, Tata Punch is the second best selling SUV of Tata Motors in India. Competing with Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Hyundai Venue in the SUV segment, Tata Motors has now equipped all variants of Punch with digital instrument cluster. Recently, the lower variant of Punch revealed a 4-inch digital screen displaying trip meter, odometer, speed timer, warning lights and many other information. Meanwhile, the top variant, the Creative, has a 7.0-inch part-digital instrument cluster.
The addition of a digital instrument cluster as a standard feature is expected to have a minor impact on pricing. However, no official announcement has been made yet regarding the impact on prices. This update enhances the appeal of the Tata Punch compared to the Hyundai Venue, which comes with a standard 4.2-inch MID digital instrument cluster. The current showroom price of Hyundai Venue ranges between Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10.15 lakh, while the showroom price of Punch ranges between Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10.10 lakh.
Tata Motors is preparing to launch the electric variant of Punch soon. The electric variants are expected to have a larger 12.3-inch infotainment system, especially in the higher trims, while the lower and mid variants will get a 10.25-inch unit. Additionally, select variants of the Tata Punch EV may come with a sunroof, making it the most affordable EV with this feature.
The Tata Punch EV will use the company’s Ziptron powertrain, with the charging socket located on the front bumper. This electric model will be based on Tata’s J2 EV platform, which is an updated version of the Alpha architecture with design changes specifically for the electric variant. With Punch EV, Tata Motors aims to strengthen its presence in the Indian electric vehicle market.
