Mahindra Vision.S
Mahindra may launch the production model of the Vision.S concept as early as 2027. This SUV will use the company’s new NU_IQ platform. In terms of design, it will be completely different from the old Tivoli-based model. It will have a boxy body, clamshell bonnet, more ground clearance and rugged styling, which will give it the look of a real SUV. The interior is expected to have features like a high and straight dashboard, vertical AC vents, large touchscreen infotainment system and panoramic sunroof. Engine options include 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. Later the company can also bring its electric version.
New Generation Tata Nexon
Tata Nexon, launched in 2017, has been one of the company’s most popular SUVs. More than 2 lakh units were sold in the year 2025 and till now its total sales figure has crossed 10 lakh units. In 2027, the company will launch its completely new second generation model. It has been internally codenamed Tata Garud. The new Nexon will be completely redesigned and engineered. Earlier it was believed that it would be based on the old X1 platform, but now there is discussion that a smaller version of the new Tata Sierra platform can be used in it. The new Nexon will come in petrol, CNG and electric variants. Apart from this, hybrid powertrain can also be seen in place of diesel engine.
Tata Scarlet (Mini Sierra)
About a year after the new Nexon, Tata Motors will launch its new compact SUV, which is currently known by the codename Tata Scarlet. It is being developed as a ‘mini Sierra’ and will compete with the Mahindra Vision.S and the Renault Bridger expected to arrive in the second half of 2027. Tata Scarlett may share the platform, engine and many other mechanical parts with the new Nexon. However, in terms of design it will be more boxy, strong and rugged. It will have high ground clearance and a real SUV-like look, due to which it may be more liked by adventure lover buyers.
