Honda is reportedly working on EV options for the Indian market called the U-GO electric scooter. As per reports, Honda has filed a design patent for the Yu-Go electric scooter in India.
The Yu-Go electric scooter is manufactured in China as part of a joint venture between Honda Motor Japan and Guangzhou Motors Group Co. The combined entity manufactures other electric two-wheelers such as U-B, e-POP and e-SCR. As part of its EV portfolio expansion plan for the country, the manufacturer may bring any of these or their derivatives to India in future.
Honda U-GO Features
The Honda U-GO primarily has a cute look which is aimed at appealing to the young customers. The electric scooter sports a simple, clutter-free design, sporty LED headlamps with DRLs, sleek LED turn indicators, rounded rear view mirrors, sharp body panels and floating-type rear LED tail lights. The compact LCD display panel of the scooter displays information such as battery percentage, speed, mileage and ride mode. Two persons can ride comfortably on the scooter.
It also gets larger footboard space, front hook and cargo box, 26-litre under-seat storage, folding rear foot rest and USB charging. Riding comfort has been customized with features like flat seat and ergonomically placed handlebars.
Honda Yu-Go Performance
The Yu-GO electric scooter has been introduced in China in two variants – a standard version and a light version. Both the U-Go variants use a 48v, 30 amp removable battery pack. The Yu-Go standard version has a rated power of 1200 watts while the lighter version produces 800 watts. Both the variants offer top speeds of 53 kmph and 43 kmph respectively. The standard variant has an estimated range of around 65 km on a full charge. But, if users want more range then they can extend it up to 130 kms by using another battery pack. However, this upgrade will limit the available storage under the seat.
The specifications of both the variants are same. The U-GO electric scooter measures 1,790 mm long, 680 mm wide and 1080 mm tall. Ground clearance is 130 mm while wheelbase is 1300 mm. The curb weight of both the variants is 83 kg.
Apart from fully electric two-wheelers, Honda is also planning to add a few flex-fuel vehicles to its portfolio in India.
